Jasen Francillon, an Emerging Shotmaker Making Noise in Florida Hoops
A skilled scorer, a steady leader, and a player who's battled his way from JV to varsity difference-maker, and is now dominating the summer AAU circuit.
I had the privilege of sitting down with Jasen Francillon to discuss his basketball journey so far, from humble beginnings to a pivotal transfer, and finding his rhythm as one of Florida's most intriguing under-the-radar prospects.
Jasen didn't come up through the youth circuit with a ton of hype or attention. In fact, his varsity story didn't even begin until his junior season. After transferring schools and spending his sophomore year on JV, he put his head down and got to work. That work paid off. When he got his varsity shot, he didn't flinch.
He made his arrival known in a big way by dropping 23 points against Dr. Phillips, one of the state's most competitive programs.
"That game changed things for me," Jasen said. "That's when I knew this was really my sport."
From that point forward, Jasen started turning heads with his natural scoring ability and basketball IQ. Whether he's getting to his spots in the midrange or pulling up confidently from deep, Francillon brings a smooth, efficient game that translates well at the next level.
If people weren't paying attention before, they are now.
Jasen has been lighting up the AAU scene this summer, averaging 24.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game while showing off both versatility and consistency. But one game in particular turned heads everywhere: a jaw-dropping 48-point, 18-rebound performance, where he shot 18-of-25 in the paint, 7-of-10 from three, and 6-of-7 at the line.
That wasn't just a breakout; that was a statement.
He's proven he can take over a game from anywhere on the floor, with an elite scoring touch and poise under pressure that's rare at the high school level.
When I asked Jasen where his motivation comes from, his answer was immediate and heartfelt:
"My mom. She's a single mom who's done so much for me and my family, and never complains. I want to do this for her."
That kind of mindset shows up in how he carries himself, focused, humble, and willing to grind.
He spends his weeks locked into a routine of weight training, skill work, film, and recovery.
"I'm always talking to my trainers, always trying to get better any way I can."
I asked him what his biggest strength was, and without hesitation.
"Definitely my shooting and my ability to score efficiently. I trust my game, especially under pressure."
Now going into the back half of his high school career, Jasen is focused on finding the right collegiate home. Whether it's Division I or Division II, Division III, or NAIA, he's less concerned about the label and more focused on the opportunity.
"I'm looking for a program with a good all-around culture, coaches that care, teammates that compete, and a system where I can grow and make an impact."
Off the court, Jasen brings the same leadership energy.
"I try to be the guy people can talk to, someone who brings people together and builds good energy."
Jasen Francillon isn't looking for shortcuts. He's looking to earn everything, and with a game built on skill, work ethic, and maturity, his best basketball is still ahead.
Coaches looking for a dependable, high-efficiency scoring guard with strong character and rising stock should lock in on Jasen Francillon before the rest of the country catches up.
